Which video files you can upload
The short answer
Upload one MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file with a single video track in H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9, AV1 or MPEG-4, within the length, picture, frame rate and file size limits. jigframe checks a clip when you choose it and again after upload, and says which limit it breaks.

iPhone and Android recordings work as they come off the phone, including HEVC and 4K. Rotation is read from the file, so a portrait clip stays portrait, and a portrait picture meets the same limit as a landscape one. A clip with non-square pixels, from some camcorders and broadcast exports, is shown and measured at its true shape.
What is checked, and when
When you choose a file, your browser checks its type and size, and its length and picture when it can read them. A file that fails is refused before anything uploads, with the limit it breaks.
After upload, jigframe reads the file itself and checks everything again: its container, video codec, number of video tracks, length, picture as shown and frame rate. Some of these, such as the codec and frame rate, only this check can see.
If a check after upload fails, the clip shows “Verification failed” with the reason, and nothing has been spent. jigframe never shrinks, crops or trims a clip to make it fit. Re-export or trim it yourself, as the related page on “Verification failed” describes, and upload it again.
Questions
Can I upload a screen recording?
It will upload, but jigframe is built for camera footage. It describes what it sees, not the software on screen.
Does the sound in my clip matter?
No. The original sound is muted in the finished video and replaced by the narration.

- Why the original sound is mutedThe finished video carries the narration only; the clip's own sound is muted. If the narration ends early, the footage plays out in silence.
